Putin’s council rejects unfriendly states' asset confiscation bill

MOSCOW, Apr 21 (PRIME) -- The council under the president for codification and improvement of civil legislation has turned down a bill by the Crimea State Council on confiscation of property of the unfriendly states and their citizens as unconstitutional, according to a resolution seen by PRIME on Thursday.

Head of the council and Chairman of the State Duma Committee for State Building and Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov said that the initiative does not contain a regulative mechanism and contradicts Article 35 of the constitution, stipulating that no one can be deprived of his property other than on a court ruling.

Confiscation for state needs shall be proceeded only in case of prior and equivalent compensation.
